Enchantment Resort Review

Dictionary definitions of the word Enchantment use descriptions such as “a feeling of being attracted to something interesting or special” or “a quality that attracts and holds your attention” and even…“ a magic spell”. Each of the above definitions, and more could easily be used to describe the Enchantment Resort and Mii Amo Spa located in Sedona, Arizona.

Enchantment, as it is simply called by locals and returning guests, is nestled deep into Boynton Canyon far from the tourist crowds that flock to Sedona and nearby Oak Creek Canyon. Very few places on earth provide a natural setting reminiscent of standing in one of nature’s grand cathedrals. Everywhere you look you are enveloped in red rocks, spires, mesas and verdant valleys. The resort itself seems to grow right out of the landscape.

If a peaceful getaway is what you seek you could not find a better place to unwind and decompress from your day-to-day life than this beautiful resort that seems to have been designed, and built, to allow the magnificence of its surroundings take center stage.

From the moment we arrived at the modest outdoor check-in area (no grand lobbies here), we were greeted by an incredibly friendly staff ready to offer us some refreshing citrus water. Standing there under the misters taking your first sip, it is impossible not begin unwinding. As we waited to check in, our bags were handled, our car is parked and we were offered a tour of the property including the numerous pools, tennis courts, restaurants and of course, the spa at Mi Amo.

Once we checked-in,  we were instructed to follow one of the staff in his golf cart to your “casita”. After our two and a half hour drive up from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, we chose the siesta! Being that we had stayed here before we felt the tour could wait. Once suitably refreshed should you decide to take them up on the offer of a tour they will be more than happy to whisk you around the property in their fleet of golf carts.

Like many world-class destinations, Enchantment provides top-flight guest services, an incredibly well trained and friendly staff, great food as well as numerous spa services. The spa at Mi Amo was recently named the “world’s best destination spa” by Travel + Leisure magazine. No small feat considering the sheer number of high-end spas around the globe.

The concierge’ is always at the ready to set you up with a jeep tour of the backcountry, an early morning hot air balloon ride or a shuttle for a day trip to the Grand Canyon. If tennis is your game you can partner up with one of the resort’s pros for a hitting session. And of course, if your preferences lean more toward pampering then the spa at Mii Amo has a menu that will suit any taste.

Feeling hungry after a full day of activity? Well…Enchantment has you covered there as well with three separate restaurants on the property all featuring indoor/outdoor dining.

Che-Ah-Chi is the highest end of the three restaurants and the only one that requires reservations. Featuring a split-level, indoor/outdoor layout with floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the scenic view, this spot serves up contemporary American cuisine with a hint of Southwest influence. Great cocktails and an extensive wine list round out great dining experience.

Tll Gavo Southwestern Restaurant, also an indoor/outdoor affair, serves up great soups, salads, burgers, tacos and some of the best guacamole you’ll ever try! A full bar with several local craft beers on tap rounds out a great lunch. At night the outdoor fire pit makes a great gathering spot as you gaze up at the stars.

Location, food, outdoors & spa

Located on 70 acres of red rock terrain at the entrance of secluded Boynton Canyon. The resort has breathtaking views in all directions. It is a short 20-minute drive to downtown Sedona and the Internationally renowned Tlaquepaque Village.

From the casual ambiance of Tii Gavo, with its Southwest-inspired cuisine, to the more upscale Che Ah Chi, guests will be treated to fresh food using local ingredients along with welcoming, friendly service and spectacular red rock views.

The Mii Amo Café is open exclusively to resort guests and serves three meals daily with an emphasis on a seasonally changing menu. The food here is fantastic and meals can be taken outdoors by the pool with great views of the surrounding red rock, indoors at a quiet dining room or at a long communal table facing the kitchen, which quickly became our favorite spot to enjoy the great food. This same communal table also serves as the gathering spot for the regular cooking classes hosted by Mll Amo.

Enchantment has five outdoor courts including two center courts set among the red rocks. The resort offers private as well as group lessons, and tennis clinics. Once tennis is over guests can head over to the full-service Mii amo spa for a one-of-a-kind experience.

And last but certainly not least, for those interested in some quality spa time there is a wide range of services available for you at Mii Amo, a world-class destination spa located on the grounds of Enchantment. There you can get a massage, indulge in skin care, have a mindful meditation session or simply hang by the pool and jacuzzi for a relaxing afternoon.

On the ground level, amid the pools and communal areas sits the Crystal Grotto, a sky-lit room which serves as the heart and soul of Mii Amo. The womb-like, circular space connects earth and sky via an earthen floor and domed ceiling, with a circular aperture directed at the sun on the summer solstice. The circle is a symbol of wholeness, and the Crystal Grotto is used as a place for meditation
